OWEN’S a gifted guitarist who fills every note that he plays with feeling. However, he’s also a musician who loves to celebrate the Christmas spirit. He follows last year’s take on the timeless ‘Feliz Navidad’ by releasing a brand new song for this festive season, ‘I Fall In Love With Christmas’. Listen HERE. Watch the video HERE.
‘I Fall In Love With Christmas’ is a seasonal song so instantly memorable that it feels as if you’ve known it for years. With nostalgic lyrics, swooning vocal harmonies, the sweetest of melodies and one of the coolest guitar solos imaginable, it could well have been transported directly from the ‘60s. OWEN hopes it can become a new favourite for many Christmases to come.
Owen’s collaborators on the track are the 100+ times Gold/Platinum producer/co-writer Michael Lloyd, and its other co-writers, the country music professor Don Cusic and legendary Curb Records founder Mike Curb.
Owen says, “Christmas was always a time of pure excitement and joy for me when I was a kid growing up. When you’re young you feel so full of love and wonder and the holidays just take those feelings to another level. But as you get older I think a lot of us start to lose those feelings and life gets heavier. Christmas and the holiday season gives me a chance to feel like that kid I was years ago if even for a moment. It’s why I fall in love with Christmas every year and I hope you do too. Feliz Navidad.”
His childhood memories are captured in the video, which includes footage of his family’s favourite Christmas moments (including, of course, Owen grinning from ear-to-ear after unwrapping a new guitar). Also – there’s new footage of him enjoying the season in the present day as he relishes performing the song.
Still just 17-years-old, the American/Puerto Rican artist’s talents have already won over an array of legendary musicians. He was first discovered by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) when he was just four, and was immediately accepted into their summer camp for gifted teenagers before becoming a regular visitor to the
Musicians Institute in Hollywood. He was still only five when he gained his first endorsement. Fun fact: this was for his talents as a drummer.
He returns to perform at NAMM’s annual gala ever since, collaborating and/or opening for artists as varied as Jason Mraz, Graham Nash and Joan Osborne. Mavis Staples was so impressed that she invited him to the studio to watch her recording a new album. It wasn’t long until he was working with and being mentored by some of the world’s finest session musicians, including Gregg Bissonette (Ringo Starr), Arianna Powell (Olivia Rodrigo) and Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty). The excitement around his prodigious talent also gave him the chance to meet all kinds of big names, from Stevie Wonder to Tre Cool of Green Day.
When he’s not playing music, Owen is also a voice-over actor, with highlights including the hit kids shows ‘Super Wings’ and ‘The Loud Show’, and he is now focusing on taking his skills into the world of anime. His songs lend themselves to film too, with him performing in the recent Netflix movie ‘The Neon Highway’ and also featuring in ‘My Home Unknown’.
Owen has spent much of this year in the studio, working on brand new material that will emerge in 2025. He has also shared his takes on songs ranging from Bob Dylan and Red Hot Chili Peppers to Alexander 23’s ‘IDK You Yet’, and played a special set at the Clive Davis Theater in the Grammy Museum.
